According to ( hireology.com) “According to employment law, illegal interview questions include any questions that don’t directly relate to your open roles. This means questions covering such topics as age, family, gender, marriage, nationality and religion are illegal questions to ask in an interview.” I think some potential employers might be able to go around these questions that seem illegal, but by different wording or even asking you to tell them about yourself, employers can receive the answers they want with out even asking them on their behalf. I believe a firm stance and a strong demeanor with the words of “ I do not feel comfortable answering that question.” No matter how the situation unfolds you made your point and you did not compromise your morals answering a question that makes you feel uncomfortable because in reality, would you want to work for a company or organization that will ask you questions that are illegal by law, it could be a blessing in disguise avoiding the question that leads to you not accepting a position.
