Insight Gained from Conversation Regarding Leadership, Provision of Care, and Evidence-Based Practice
Nurse Josephine’s view on nursing leadershop and evidence-based practice was insightful during the conversation. She emphasized the need for knowledgeable and determined nursing leaders. She mentioned the importance of leaders being mentors, and also the need for all nurses to work as a team. This displayed a clear demonstration of the necessity for leaders with advanced clinical expertise and strong communication, problem-solving, and team-building skills. Josephine made more observations on evidence-based care, implying that to eliminate issues with common or new diseases, more nursing research is needed. More research will also ensure that the delivered care meets the required needs and is founded on reliable scientific evidence. My understanding of these scientific concepts has grown due to my interaction with Nurse Josephine, which will also influence how I embrace both EBP and nursing leadership.
Analysis of the Impact of Nursing History on Professional Practice Today and in the Future
The changing history of nursing has further influenced the field of nursing. This means that the fundamental principles of compassion, patient-centered care, and the need for thorough training bear the history of other nurses such as Florence Nightingale. She played an important role in nursing and also established a groundwork for contemporary nursing. It is evident that the historical advances in nursing act as a guide especially when trying to maintain a patient-focused approach during the delivery of care. Additionally, the innovations in the development of antibiotics and immunizations have revolutionized the field of nursing, implying that there are more treatment options and resources available to nurses.
Nursing history is a reminder of the challenges, changes, and successes faced by nurses. It emphasizes how important it is to fight for patient’s rights, decent working conditions, and gender equality. Protection of the rights of nurses and maintenance of a supportive work environment are among the different ways the historical turning points continue to influence the field of modern nursing.
The future of the field of nursing is defined by the consequences of the past. With continuous advancement in healthcare, nursing history lessons will become more critical and of great essence. There is a need for nurses to learn more from the experiences and doings of nurses who preceded them. This process will enable them to adjust to the current technology, treatment alternatives, and healthcare models. It is important to note that the future of nursing is yet to be defined by telemedicine, data-driven care, and over-reliance of digital health technologies. Nurses are therefore required to embrace these changes while ensuring that they are abiding the laws and regulation governing the field of nursing. SAMPLE SOLUTION
One nurse I can currently relate to in my nursing practice is Annie Goodrich. She helped improve the image of nursing in many ways. Goodrich was a teacher, an advocate for women’s rights in the work force, and was active in standardizing nursing education. Goodrich also promoted that nurse education be in a college setting. She was not afraid to tell hospital administrators that hospital programs were producing nurses with less knowledge and ability. “Goodrich, like most American nursing leaders, desperately wanted to see their potential student nurses as . . . ambitious, socially conscious, and reform-minded women like themselves”. (Judd, 2013)
I appreciate the efforts of Annie Goodrich in helping to make nursing a valued and respected profession. I also appreciate her drive to help students succeed and see their potential an improved nursing image! She fought hard to make nursing education what it is today, and without efforts of her and other nurse leaders, I may not be a nurse or may not be furthering my nursing education and nursing career!
